City of Tampa to open Parks & Rec facilities Friday to help families

TAMPA, Fla – In an effort to provide an alternate location for Tampa residents, including kids and seniors, to go because of closures due to the storm, the City of Tampa will open all recreation facilities from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Friday – free of charge.

“By providing a location for families to take their loved ones we can ensure that both kids and adults alike will have a fun filled day in an safe environment while we wait out this storm,” Mayor Bob Buckhorn said. “Many parents are unable to find adequate and reasonably priced childcare on short notice so the city is there to fill that need.”

“Our thoughts and prayers are with those in the path of the storm across the state,” the mayor added.

Among facilities, the Barksdale Active Adult Center will be open.

The facilities will provide a light meal.
