LUTZ, Fla. (WFLA) – Hillsborough detectives are investigating threats made about students at a Hillsborough County middle school.
The threats were made through social media by someone with a clown photo for his or her profile image. They target students who attend Martinez Middle School in Lutz. News Channel 8 obtained images from Instagram.
“I’m coming for you Martinez Middle School … WATCH OUT,” the first threat reads.
The user’s name is “jacktheclown15.”
The Hillsborough County School Board and the Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Office are both aware of the threats, which were made over the weekend.
Hillsborough County School Board Spokeswoman Tanya Arja said the district is taking the threats seriously, although they do not believe there is intention to carry out the plot. Officials did inform parents.
Deputies said the arrest is “regarding an online threat made toward Seven Springs Middle School with an image of a clown.”
The arrested child threatened to kill children, officials said. The threat was posted on the app, musical.ly. The profile’s main image is a clown. Deputies learned of the threat Monday night.
