ORLANDO, Fla.(WESH) — A man at SeaWorld identified to deputies as an annual pass holder has been arrested and charged with molesting two minors at Aquatica.
The incidents allegedly occurred Sunday afternoon while the teens were floating down a lazy river.
Roy McCormick, 32, of Havelock, North Carolina, was arrested at SeaWorld’s Aquatica Sunday. According to the arrest affidavit, two minors, who were visiting the park with a police explorers group, told an adult that McCormick had grabbed their buttocks while they were floating in an area known as Roa’s Rapids.
McCormick is facing two charges of lewd and lascivious molestation of a victim between the ages of 12 and 15.
Deputies said when they confronted McCormick, he requested an attorney before answering questions. He was arrested, and on Monday, a judge ordered him to be held on a $4,000 bond.
In the meantime, SeaWorld told deputies that McCormick is an annual pass holder and has visited Aquatica multiple times this year. In a statement to WESH 2 News, SeaWorld said, “we have zero tolerance for this type of behavior at our parks … we have been in contact with the parents of the guests, and our security team is working closely with the Orange County Sheriff’s Office on this matter.”
McCormick has a lengthy criminal history in North Carolina and has done jail time in the past on charges of theft and assault with a deadly weapon. If he bonds out of jail, he will not be allowed to return to SeaWorld.
