(WFLA) – Elk Grove’s giant pumpkin festival attracts a lot of groves and guests every year. The festival celebrates everything pumpkin – from lattes to the gourds themselves, some the size of the small car.
Grovers from all over the western US bring their humongous gourds to the fest. The big draw is the big price. The winning pumpkin gets $7 per pound. Some competitors can weigh in at 2,000 pounds promising a big chunk of cash to the grower.
The festival lasts through the weekend. After the festival, the gigantic pumpkins get destroyed.
