Restaurant Ratings Most Violations: Sept. 19 to 23

(WFLA) —– State inspectors temporarily closed six Tampa Bay eateries from Sept. 19 to Sept. 23, 2016. We’ve listed the restaurants that were closed below, along with details about what inspectors say they found.

Gyroland located at 3313 N. Nebraska Ave. in Tampa

Sept. 24, 2016: Restaurant temporarily closed with 45 violations

  • Roach excrement and/or droppings present along reach-in cooler gasket, chest freezer gasket.
  • Live roaches found: 3 on floor, 2 on wall, 3 in gasket chest freezer, 5 in gasket of reach-in cooler, 5 on wheel of reach-in cooler on cook’s line, 1 on floor under reach-in cooler, 3 in door hedge of reach-in cooler cook’s line.
  • Medicine stored in refrigerator/cooler with food.

Restaurant has not reopened as of  Sept. 30, 2016

Kentucky Fried Chicken located at 3102 E. College Ave. in Ruskin

Sept. 23, 2016: Restaurant temporarily closed with 10 violations

  • Roach activity present as evidenced by live roaches found: 8 on wall by prep table/behind hot hold unit, 2 under ice machine, 3 in wall behind prep table, 1 in grout of floor tile by hot holding units, 1 in women’s restroom, 1 on sticky trap in cabinet under fountain machine.
  • Roach excrement and/or droppings present where plastic siding is loose from the wall.
  • Dead roaches on premises: 1 by ice machine, 1 in women’s restroom.

Sept. 24, 2016: Restaurant reopened with 5 violations

Hideaway located at 1402 Alt. Hwy 19 in Holiday

Sept. 19, 2016: Restaurant temporarily closed with 17 violations

  • Rodent droppings found: 10 dry rodent droppings by coffee station across from inside bar, 8 soft and moist droppings under hand wash sink by dish room area, 7 soft and moist on glass reach in cooler sliding door tracks, 10-15 soft and moist droppings next to water heater, too many to count soft and dry droppings under box sodas rack, back kitchen by walk-in cooler .
  • Operating with an expired Division of Hotels and Restaurants license.
  • Soil residue in food storage containers.

Sept. 20, 2016: Restaurant reopened with 9 violations

Beef O’ Brady’s located at 102 W. Polk St. in Auburndale

Sept. 21, 2016: Restaurant temporarily closed with 5 violations

  • Roach activity present as evidenced by live roaches found: 1-live roach under 3-compartment sink, 5-live roaches on top of dish machine in hoses and dispensing apparatus, 5-6 live roaches in power box above dish machine.
  • Build-up of food debris, dust or dirt on nonfood-contact surface.
  • Dishmachine chlorine sanitizer not at proper minimum strength.

Sept. 21, 2016: Restaurant reopened with 2 violations

China Express located at 807 Eagle Ridge Rd. in Lake Wales

Sept. 21, 2016: Restaurant temporarily closed with 8 violations

  • Roach activity present as evidenced by live roaches found: 30 live roaches near ice machine behind bag of rice.
  • 20 dead roaches on cook’s line.
  • Case/container/bag of food stored on floor in walk-in freezer.

Sept. 20, 2016: Restaurant reopened with 4 violations

Rositas Mexican Restaurant located at 741 N. Wabash Ave. in Lakeland

Sept. 22, 2016: Restaurant temporarily closed with 3 violations

  • Roach activity present as evidenced by live roaches found: 1 live roach under flip top unit on cook’s line, 3 live roaches under 3-compartment sink.
  • 15-20 live roaches behind chest freezer in food preparation area next to mixer.\Interior of reach-in cooler soiled with accumulation of food residue.
  • Observed raw chicken stored over raw beef in reach-in cooler.

Sept. 22, 2016: Restaurant reopened with no violations

The following Tampa Bay restaurants received the most violations during inspections conducted from Sept. 19  to Sept. 23, 2016.

Nickels Diner located at 6403 Massachusetts Ave. in New Port Richey

  • Rodent activity present as evidenced by rodent droppings found: excessive dry rodent droppings on prep tables, on bottom table shelves, on floors, in corners, in dry storage also chew marks on flour in dry storage and wrap box on prep table.
  • Toxic substance/chemical stored by or with food: peroxide stored by spices.
  • Stop Sale Order issued for moldy sauerkraut.

Gyroland, 3313 N. Nebraska Ave., Tampa, 45 violations

Sauced Hogs BBQ Bar and Grill, 2408 N. Fatima Ave., Hernando, 41 violations

  • Food with mold-like growth: mold on box of cheese, tops of buckets and a moldy cucumber.
  • Employee with no hair restraint while engaging in food preparation.
  • Employee failed to wash hands before changing gloves and/or putting on gloves to work with food.

Minerva Indian Restaurant, 19050 Bruce B. Downs Blvd., Tampa, 40 violations

  • Stop Sale Order issued for moldy tomato.
  • Raw chicken stored over ready to eat sauce in walk-in cooler.
  • Bulk bag of whole onions stored on walk in cooler floor.

Yummy House China Bistro, 2620 E. Hillsborough Ave., Tampa, 38 violations

  • Dead roaches on premises: 1 dead under prep sink.
  • 1 live roach found in front cabinet under
  • Nonfood-grade bags used in direct contact with food.

California Tacos to Go, 808 S. Dale Mabry Hwy, Tampa, 36 violations

  • Stop Sale issued on potentially hazardous food due to temperature abuse.
  • Packaged food not labeled as specified by law.
  • Employee with no hair restraint while engaging in food preparation.

Havana Village Café, 120 N. Dale Mabry Hwy, Tampa, 28 violations

  • Clorox and dish soap corrected on site moved.
  • Potentially hazardous food held at greater than 41 degrees Fahrenheit.
  • Cutting board has cut marks and is no longer cleanable.
