Pasco schools on Campus Alert after ‘creepy clown’ threat on Twitter

PASCO COUNTY, Fla. (WFLA) – Pasco County School district has placed all county schools on a Campus Alert after a Creepy Clown tweet Friday morning.

The district posted the alert message on their Facebook page. According to the post, the district received a threat on Twitter about high schools. The tweet came from the Twitter “Ain’t Clownin Around.”

The district has no reason to believe the threat is credible but the Pasco County Sheriff’s Office is investigating it. The district didn’t specify what the tweet said or what kind of a threat it specifically was.

PCSO is also working on several reports of the clown sightings in the area. All reports will be investigated, detectives do not take this as a joke.

The schools were placed on the Campus Alert which essentially means “See something – Say something.”

Classes and all other activities will go as planned.

The district said they are erring on the side of caution in this situation.
