Pedestrian killed on I-75

TAMPA, FL (WFLA) — Southbound lanes of I-75 have reopened near Fowler Avenue after a fatal pedestrian crash occurred early Friday.

The crash happened around 3:30 a.m. at the Bypass Canal in Tampa. Florida Highway Patrol says says two vehicles were traveling south in the center lane, where the pedestrian was standing for unknown reasons. Neither vehicle saw the victim and struck the man, whose identity has not been released. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

Hillsborough County Sheriff’s deputies are assisting Florida Highway Patrol in the investigation of the crash.

Southbound lanes were closed due to the investigation until 7 a.m.
