PREVIOUS STORY: PASCO COUNTY, Fla. (WFLA) – A 14-year-old suspect is facing felony charges after deputies said he hit an elderly victim and took his wallet and pants. The 81-year-old victim died later that day.
It happened in Holiday on Devonshire Drive around 2 a.m. Friday. The suspect Alexander Perez, 14, walked up to the elderly victim, who was sitting on his front porch at his home. The teen hit him in the face multiple times, according to Pasco County Sheriff’s Office.
Detectives said, Perez pushed the victim into his house through the front door, and walked to the victim’s bedroom. He continued to batter him there, according to PCSO.
The suspect stole the victim’s wallet and pants and fled the scene on foot, deputies said.
Perez was arrested Friday afternoon.
The victim Robert Walker was treated on scene by Pasco County Fire Rescue.
Later Friday a neighbor saw the victim slump over in his chair. The neighbor called 911 and paramedics took him to a hospital. Walker died at the hospital later Friday evening.
Pasco deputies put a crime scene tape around the house Friday evening.
Neighbor Billy Sepulveda was saddened to hear the news. “It’s sad because it feels like a family member just passed away,” he said.
“Nobody should die like that. Nobody should get hurt like that. If it happens to him it could happen to any of us here,” Sepulveda added.
