The Frankfurt Zoo introduced its newest member of the gorilla enclosure to the world Wednesday.
The baby gorilla, who hasn’t been named yet, was born last week as part of the zoo’s captive breeding program. According to the zoo’s director, the baby gorilla seems to be healthy and strong and is exceptionally big for its age.
The sex of the baby gorilla is still not known at this stage.
The mother gorilla was born in 2004 at the Stuttgart Zoo and belongs to the western lowland gorillas species that originates in Central Africa.
Western lowland gorillas are threatened by extinction in the wild.
