HILLSBOROUGH COUNTY, Fla (WFLA) – Talk continued on Wednesday about a future stadium for the Tampa Bay Rays

No decision has been made about whether a new stadium would be built in Pinellas County or Hillsborough County, but on Wednesday Hillsborough County Commissioners took one step forward in the process.

Commissioners approved bringing on Citigroup as an investment banker for a major league ballpark project.  Citigroup will serve as the lead or senior underwriter if  a ballpark ends up being built in Hillsborough County.

At this point, the commission claims there is no financial obligation in the plan. All money paid to Citigroup will come from a successful financing plan, the commission said.

The measure passed unanimously.
