VIDEO: Volcano erupts in Costa Rica

Costa Rica’s Turrialba Volcano erupted early Monday morning, lighting up the night sky.

The eruption took place shortly before 3 a.m. local time.

According to the Volcanological and Seismological Observatory of Costa Rica , a second eruption occurred later that same morning, sending ash and smoke some 13,000 feet into the air.

Both eruptions lasted around 15 minutes.
