MADEIRA BEACH, Fla. (WFLA) — Niki Paksoy is sick of living out of boxes. She already paid $14,000 for new cabinets, but her kitchen is incomplete.
Paksoy and her husband say workers from The Cabinet Place in Largo started the job and then disappeared. That was seven months ago, and the couple say they received excuses from the company.
“All summer long, we waited and we believed them, but nothing ever happened,” Paksoy said.
Now, no returned calls at all. So, Paksoy called Better Call Behnken for help, and boy, does this story ring a bell. Cabinet Place owner Tony Jackson told 8 On Your Side in January 2014 that he would finish jobs for upset customers then.
Numerous customers called 8 On Your Side back then with stories similar to Paksoy’s experience now.
We found him in 2014 selling more cabinets at a home show in St. Petersburg, instead of finishing jobs he already sold.
The smooth-talking Jackson promised then to get everything straightened out.
Hearing that now makes Paksoy even madder.
“I can’t believe you have already done a story on this guy, and now the same thing is happening,” she said.
The Pinellas County Consumer Protection Agency has had 10 complaints since early 2014 and is currently investigating two, including those against Paksoy.
Jackson returned a phone call late Tuesday to say he has closed his business and will offer a refund to Paksoy.
8 On Your Side will continue to investigate this story.
