(WFLA) — A South Carolina family pulled in a huge catch during their first alligator hunt… a gator that weighed a whopping 604 pounds!
Even more amazing, the Summerville, SC family hooked the gator with a fishing pole that’s more than 40 years old, according to a CNN report.
“The taxidermist said it’s a once in a lifetime opportunity. People hunt years and never see an alligator like that,” said Mike Montei, who is one of the family members who caught the gator.
The Godzilla-sized alligator was 13 feet, 4 inches long.
“It was a lot of fun though and I think if we had another chance to do it — we probably would but we definitely wouldn’t be shooting for another 13 footer,” said Sarah Montei.
What is even more frightening is the gator came from the same area where one of the family members went swimming as a kid.
