INDIO, CA (WCMH) — A brazen thief broke into a California YMCA Friday to steal cash from a register. However, the thief probably didn’t get what he was looking for — both the register and the money inside were fake.
Security cameras caught the man breaking in through the ceiling duct work of the Indio, California, YMCA Child Development Center, KESQ-TV reports. The thief then escaped with the fake cash out the door.
The Indio Police say that the burglar may have used the same methods in other break-ins.
“Thieves tend to have specific MOs with stuff that they follow and stuff that they get comfortable with,” said Sargent Dan Marshall. “They don’t get caught doing it once and they figure, hey, it’s a tried and true method and then they stick to it.”
