HILLSBOROUGH COUNTY, Fla. (WFLA) – Two fatal crashes blocked traffic on Interstate 4 Sunday morning.
The crashes happened on eastbound I-4 at mile marker 17 and near Interstate 75. The mile marker 17 crash involved a motorcycle.
The crash near I-75 involved an overturned truck. The 2005 GMC Sierra was changing lanes on the highway and hit a Ford Expedition. The GMC rotated, hit a concrete culvert and overturned. The 31-year-old GMC driver was not wearing a seatbelt and was ejected.
He died at a hospital. The Ford driver John Simon Jr., 60, was not injured.
The motorcycle crash happened near Branch Forbes Road. For unknown reasons, the 2006 Suzuki motorcycle overturned and the rider Krystal Andreu, 23, was ejected. A Camry going east on the highway hit her.
She was pronounced dead at the scene. The driver of the Camry was not injured.
Florida Highway Patrol troopers had to close the lanes right after the crashes letting the traffic pass on the shoulder.
The lanes were blocked for hours at the sites of the crashes.
