POLK COUNTY, Fla. (WFLA) – A woman employed by the Polk County School Board is under arrest on one charge of grand theft after deputies said she took more than $1,000 from another woman who also works for the school board.
It happened at a Polk County School Board office located at 698 Cessna St. in Bartow. The victim told detectives she had a large sum of money taken from her purse while at work, according to the Polk County Sheriff’s Office.
The victim works for the Florida Diagnostic and Learning Resources System as a Technology Specialist. She noticed several times that money was missing from her purse. The first time it was $1,000 in cash she needed for paying rent. The second time it was $72 in cash.
Finally, the victim downloaded a video surveillance program on her work laptop and left it running. She pointed the camera in the direction of the desk drawer where she keeps her purse. After returning from training and noticing that another sum of money was missing, she watched the video recorded by the system.
The video showed the suspect, 47-year-old Fontello Joboham of Winter Haven, going through the purse, and then taking it away entirely and returning it later.
Joboham, who is a Planning and Assessment Specialist at the Florida Diagnostic and Learning Resources System, was arrested on a grand theft charge.
