ST. PETE BEACH, Fla. (WFLA) – Detectives say a 51-year-old man beat another person to death Thursday in St. Pete Beach.
The incident happened around 1:55 p.m. at the west end of the 78th Avenue cul-de-sac, west of Coquina Way.
Kenneth Darling, 41, and Bruce Wilson, 51, were drinking together on 78th Avenue, detectives said. “Detectives say that Darling and Wilson got into a physical altercation and Wilson began beating Darling in the head with his fists. Witnesses told detectives that Wilson repeatedly struck Darling in the face six to seven times,” a Pinellas County Sheriff’s Office spokesperson said.
Responding deputies found Darling unresponsive. He was pronounced dead at the scene.
Wilson is charged with second-degree murder. Detectives say alcohol impairment is likely a factor.
