DENVER — Denver police have a suspected drug dealer in custody, but before he was caught he allegedly threw 17 bags of heroin across a fence into the yard of a doggy daycare.
The whole incident was caught on camera. In the video, you can’t see the suspect tossing the heroin, but you can see a dog named “Charlie” eating a full bag of heroin. A few seconds later, an employee starts picking up all the baggies.
“You can’t process the fact that your dog ate heroin,” said Charlie’s owner, Laura. “I’m upset, I’m grateful that she’s alive.”
“All and all 17 baggies were found in our playroom – not including the five that the guy tried to swallow,” said Garrett Bishop, the owner of Bark and Play.
Laura said Charlie had to be rushed to the vet. Laura says when she got the call at work, they didn’t know if she would make it.
“I could have lost my dog yesterday because some stupid idiot decided to sell drugs, run from the police and throw them,” she said.
Laura says Charlie is doing much better now, but still has no energy.
Police have the suspect in custody; they say he was selling drugs when they spotted him.
