BONITA SPRINGS, Fla. (AP) – Authorities are searching for a man who they say posed as a police officer and sexually assaulted a woman in southwest Florida.
Lee County Sheriff’s officials say the man came to the woman’s home on Tuesday evening and identified himself as a police officer. The woman told investigators she let him inside the house, having no reason to doubt he was an officer.
Once inside the home, authorities say the man sexually assaulted the woman. Another woman and a 4-year-old child in the home were not injured.
According to a news release from the sheriff’s office, the man was wearing a tactical vest with a police-type insignia and dark pants. He also carried a firearm. He left the home in a silver or tan sedan.
