POLK COUNTY, Fla. (WFLA) – The Polk County shooting suspect turned himself in to Tampa Police Thursday afternoon.
Earlier Thursday, Winter Haven Police officers were working to locate the suspect in the recent shooting that left one man at a hospital this week. The suspect was considered armed and dangerous.
The shooting happened this Wednesday in Winter Haven around 2 p.m. The suspect Dashawn Jamal-Roy Bather, 19, of Lakeland, was driving north on 9th Street North West. The victim Nathaniel Brewer, 20, was going south on the same street.
The two cars stopped and Brewer got out and came to Bather’s car. They had an argument and Bather pulled a gun shooting Brewer in the neck.
The suspect fled the scene speeding towards Havendale Boulevard. A friend who was with Brewer called 911 and drove Brewer to his house on Avenue West. Police and medics responded and Brewer was taken to a hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
A warrant has been issued for Bather’s arrest. He is considered armed and dangerous. He is possibly driving his 2005 gray BMW four-door sedan with a Florida tag 2759BT.
Bather is now in custody after turning himself in to TPD. He is facing charges of Attempted First Degree Homicide in the Winter Haven case and may be transported back to Polk.
