Pedestrian struck by van on Nebraska Ave.

TAMPA, FL (WFLA) — Southbound traffic on Nebraska Avenue, just south of Busch Boulevard, was shut down for about three hours Wednesday morning after after a pedestrian was struck by a van after exiting a city bus.

Tampa Police say around 6:45 a.m., 22-year-old Andrew Vanburan was struck by a van after getting off a Hartline bus. Police say he exited behind the back of the bus and failed to look for approaching traffic.

Vanburan sustained a laceration to his head and fell to the ground near the rear tire of the bus. He was treated at the scene and was taken to the hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

The accident resulted in the southbound lane on Nebraska being shut down for nearly three hours.

The driver of the van has not been charged.
