2 injured when lightning strikes Tampa building

TAMPA, Fla. (WFLA) — Two people suffered minor injuries when lightning struck a building in Tampa on Tuesday afternoon.

A Hillsborough County Fire Rescue spokesperson said it happened around 4 p.m. at the Literacy Leadership Academy located at 6771 Madison Ave in Progress Village.

The two adults were outside, leaning against a building when it was hit by lightning.

HCFR described the injuries as very minor.

Literacy Leadership Academy will be closed Wednesday as crews assess the building’s damage.
