Alzheimer’s patient found dead in Wesley Chapel pond

WESLEY CHAPEL, FL (WFLA) — The Pasco County Sheriff’s Office is investigating the apparent drowning death of a man with Alzheimer’s who was reported missing early Monday morning.

Deputies say the body of 87-year-old Herman Wolter, of Georgia, was found floating in a pond near his caretaker’s home in Wesley Chapel early Monday. He was reported missing around 3:17 a.m. and his body was found in the pond near Tremont Drive a short time later.

Deputies say Wolter recently moved to the area. His caretaker said he was complaining of wanting to go home before he went missing.

Foul play is not expected.
