Teachers in need of supplies throughout the year

(WFLA) — Your school shopping list is complete, kids are back in the classroom, and everything is up and running for the new year. But, not so fast. You would be surprised to learn how quickly those supplies run out in the classroom.

“Supplies run out by the middle of the year, you’re going to need to replenish those supplies,” said Brooke Lipchitz, of Ballast Point Elementary.

School supplies are imperative to building a productive classroom, and make children and families feel like they are part of the school communities.

For teachers it’s about expanding their classroom needs.

“Unfortunately don’t have and excessive amount of supplies at all times,” said Michela Guariniello, a 3rd grade teacher at Ballast Point.

So if you’re out and about and find sales on school supplies, it’s a good idea to scoop up some good deals. Teachers will put out their wish list in different ways.

“Personally for myself, I love using a class website, everyone has a phone or access to the internet, so it’s easy for them to see what I need. My door is always open to my parents, if they ever have a question they always pop their heads in to see what I need, and a lot of times teachers will post it on their door,” said, Guariniello.

It’s also never too soon to start thinking about school supplies for next year.

Many schools are starting to contract with outside companies that allow you to fill your entire list online. Parents could mention the idea to their child’s school administration, or at the next PTSA meeting, if it’s something you would like to see at your child’s school.
