Olympics: Shooting-10m Air Rifle Men's Final

Day three of Olympic Shooting in Rio kicks off Monday at 8:00 a.m. with men’s 10m air rifle qualifications, and the final at 11:00 a.m.

Romanian Alin Moldoveanu will be in the fold to retain the gold medal he won in 2012. He has yet to place in any major international completion since the London games, however.

One of the favorites for the event is 20-year-old Chinese shooting prodigy Yang Haoran. He has been competing on the international stage since the age of 17, and has amassed nine gold medals and five silver medals in different competitions since then.

Daniel Lowe and Lucas Kozeniesky will represent the U.S. in the event. This the first Olympic games for both competitors.

The second event of the day is men’s trap, with the semifinal starting at 2:00 p.m. and the finals at 2:30 p.m.

Massimo Fabbrizi, the 2012 silver medalist is off to a hot start in qualifications, leading the way with a score of 75. Croatian Giovanni Cernogoraz, the reigning gold medalist, is sitting in 18th place with a score of 67.

Slovakian Erik Varga is expected to medal, having won gold in mixed trap and silver in men’s trap at the 2015 European Games in Baku. He is currently in 11th place, scoring a 69 earlier today.

No U.S. shooters qualified for men’s trap.
