Olympics: Shooting-Women's Trap Qualification

Shooting at the Rio Olympics continues Sunday with Women’s 10m air pistol qualifications at 8:00 a.m. and the final at 10:00 a.m.

Ukrainian Olena Kostevych won gold in the event in 2004, and bronze in the 2012 London games. She has been in fine form since, winning the 2015 European Championships in Arnhem, and looks to add to her three total Olympic medals.

Two U.S. shooters will be in the field, Lydia Paterson and Enkelejda Shehaj Bekurti. Paterson, just 19-years-old, earned her spot in the Olympics by finishing in eighth place at the 2015 ISSF World Cup in Munich. Bekurti, 47, will take part in this event and the 25m pistol event as well.

The second competition on the day is Women’s trap, which features U.S. shooter Corey Cogdell-Unrein. Cogdell-Unrein won bronze in the 2008 Beijing games.

This event also features Fatima Galvez, 29, of Spain. Galvez took home the gold medal at the 2015 ISSF World Championships in Lonato as well as the gold in the 2015 European Games in Baku.

Of course, 24-year-old Jessica Rossi will look to reclaim the gold medal she won in the 2012 London games.

Women’s trap kicks off with qualifying at 8:00 a.m. and the final at 2:00 p.m.
