Man pulls gun on restaurant employee, flees police

SIOUX FALLS, SD (KELO) – Two people were arrested early Sunday morning after pulling a gun on a restaurant employee and leading officers on a chase.

Just before 2 a.m Sunday, officers responded to Lalibela’s restaurant on west 11th Street in Sioux Falls, where an employee had tried to intervene in an argument between two people outside. Daniel Amador, 19, allegedly pulled a gun and threatened the employee. The two people then left the area.

As officers were responding to the scene, a car matching the employee’s description passed by, and officers tried to stop the car. That’s when they led police in a pursuit through Sioux Falls.

The car finally lost control near Sherman Park, where it collided with a pergola. Amador and a juvenile male tried to flee on foot, but were arrested. Police also arrested the driver, 24-year-old Theresa Highpipe, for aggravated eluding, DUI, and driving without a driver’s license.

Amador was arrested for aggravated assault and fleeing police. The young male was cited for fleeing police and violating curfew.
