Paul at the Rio Olympics: Day 5

The Rio Olympics in a nutshell: workers replacing the carpet in the main lobby on the day of opening ceremonies.

RIO DE JANEIRO (WFLA) — News Channel 8’s Paul Ryan is in Rio de Janeiro for the Olympics. He wants to show you what it’s like there. He’ll be snapping photos and shooting video of the people he meets and the places he visits.

On Friday he covered the U.S. Olympic Committee meeting where Olympic leaders talked about doping.  “Clearly the system isn’t working… This is a global problem that needs to be addressed as quickly as possible,” said a USOC official.

Paul also found out that TEAM USA is on track to earn its 1,000th gold medal during the 2016 Summer Olympics. The USOC assures there will be something “special” for the 1,000th gold medal winner.

Paul also found out that there are 144 colleges represented by the USA Olympic team.

This is cool! Earlier this week, Paul visited some famous locations in Rio including the Christ the Redeemer statue.
