Satanic Temple wants to start after school program

(KSL) — A new after-school program in Utah is causing controversy after a local chapter of “The Satanic Temple” filed paperwork to start holding meetings with elementary students.

Members of the organization say they want the same rights as other groups, citing evangelical Christian groups that hold meetings at other schools in the district.

Their goal is to level the religious playing field.

“If you are going to open a religous discussion in the public forum then you have to allow everybody,” Chalice Blythe says.

District officials say the organization has not been granted permission yet.
