VIDEO: Motorcyclist threatened with baseball bat in Hillsborough road rage encounter

Joseph Sudano is the victim of road rage.

HILLSBOROUGH COUNTY, Fla. (WFLA) — Hillsborough County deputies are searching for a man who was involved in a road rage incident. The man is also accused of stealing a necklace from the victim.

Investigators do not have the suspect’s name, but the victim provided a description and video. The incident happened along Hillsborough Avenue and Town ’n Country Boulevard.

“You know I’m against guns and all that you know, when it comes to this, I would like to have one for my protection,” the victim, Joseph Sudano, said.

Sudano, 62, said he was driving a motorcycle when a pickup truck started tailgating him. Sudano and the suspect got into a verbal spat. He admits they exchanged words and flipped each other off. “Maybe I shouldn’t have went to that extent, but it happened; not enough for somebody to come out with a bat and threaten you,” Sudano said

According to Sudano, the truck driver then sped past him and slammed on the brakes. The suspect grabbed a bat from his vehicle and approached Sudano, the latter said.

Sudano said he started calling 911. The suspect then said, “I’ll just take this instead,” and ripped the gold necklace right off Sudano’s neck, the victim said.

“That bat wasn’t wood; it was aluminum so it’s not going to break. The only thing it’s going to break is your head,” Sudano said.

A witness captured video of the suspect running back to his truck. “They took the time to help, and I’m really grateful,” Sudano said.

Investigators are hoping someone recognizes the suspect. Crime Stoppers Tampa Bay is offering at $3,000 reward for information that leads to an arrest.

Deputies are searching for a 2000-2005 light gray Nissan extended cab pickup truck with flared wheel wells.
