Paul at the Rio Olympics: July 31

News Channel 8’s Paul Ryan arrived in Rio de Janeiro Sunday. He’ll be covering the Olympics for News Channel 8.

After arriving in Brazil, Paul checked into his apartment, which is still under construction. He visited the NBC Olympics headquarters and took in a beautiful sunset.

Meanwhile, the White House announced President Barack Obama and U.S. Vice President Joe Biden are skipping the Olympics. U.S. Secretary of State John Kerry will lead the U.S. delegation to the games. He’ll be the highest-level U.S. official attending.

The U.S. delegation will also include swimmer Mark Spitz. He has nine Olympic gold medals, plus a silver medal and a bronze medal.

The Opening Ceremony for the Games can be seen August 5 on News Channel 8. The Olympics run from Aug. 5 – 21.
