The U.S. women’s gymnastics team is on a roll. They are defending Olympic team champions with back-to-back-to-back all-around Olympic gold medalists.

And in Rio, the american girls will be trying to send the Hungarian woman responsible for that dominance out a winner.

“She loves when we win the team competition. That’s the most important thing to Marta is that we win the team gold medal, especially next year at the Olympic games,” Aly Raisman said.

Marta Karolyi defected from communist Romania in 1981. With her husband, Bella, they created a life around gymnastics and based it in their camp outside of Houston, Texas.

Karolyi is retiring after these Olympics Games.

The Opening Ceremony for the Rio Olympic Games can be seen August 5 on News Channel 8. News Channel 8’s Paul Ryan will be in Rio with live reports during the Olympics, which run from Aug. 5 – 21.
