WINTER HAVEN, Fla. (WFLA) – Winter Haven Police officers warn residents to be diligent if a man in a red truck approaches them and offers to fix their vehicles, especially when the don’t need repairs.
Winter Haven Police officers said they received at least two reports about the man who drives a newer model red Chevrolet Silverado quad cab pickup truck.
He approached a victim at the residence in the North Lake Mirror Drive area. The man walked up to the door and solicited work to repair the damaged car. The resident, knowing there was no damage to the vehicle, requested a business card. The man went back to his truck and sped away.
The second occurrence happened on Ave I NW when he approached the residents as they were arriving home. The man pulled up near them and offered to fix the damage to their vehicle for a good price. When the resident said there was no damage to their vehicle, the man left the area.
The man is described as is a Hispanic male wearing a white t-shirt and a red ball cap. He has an unidentified script tattoo on his left forearm. The red Chevy Silverado quad cab pickup truck may have a green gas cap cover.
But officers say the residents need to be careful with anyone who tries to approach them and offer cheap repair work on their car or house. Unsolicited repair work can be risky and there could be other motives behind the approach, according to WHPD.
If you had any suspicious encounter with this man or have information on his identity, please call Detective Mike Leonard at (863)401-2256.
