TSA pre-check program expanding at Tampa Bay airports

TAMPA, FL (WFLA) — The TSA Pre-check program is expanding in the Bay Area. TSA is opening two new enrollment offices, one at Tampa International Airport, and another at St. Pete/Clearwater Airport.

More than 30,000 people signed up at the office in Tampa since the program began in May 2014. TSA Pre-check costs $85 and is good for five years.

TSA Pre-check is an expedited screening program that allows low-risk travelers to get through security faster by leaving on their shoes, jacket and belt, and keep their laptop and liquids/gels bag in their carry-on.

Travelers can enroll for TSA Pre-check at Tampa International Airport and in Pinellas County at at 4004 Ulmerton Road, Ste 102, Clearwater.

Lee Kair, Federal Security Director for the Transportation Security Administration in Tampa Bay will talk about the expansion Wednesday morning, as well as the escalating issue of passengers bringing guns to the security checkpoints.
