POLK COUNTY, Fla. (WFLA) – A 42-year-old man is charged with throwing a glass salsa jar at another vehicle in an alleged road-rage incident.
Jason Michael Drew was merging onto State Road 400 from Kathleen Road in a red 2000 Ford pickup, troopers said. The victim, who had a 9-year-old child in her vehicle, was also traveling in that direction.
“Drew felt the victim did not allow him to merge because she crossed a solid white line. Drew claimed the vehicle tried to run him off of the roadway,” troopers said.
The suspect then threw the empty glass jar at the victim and the child, hitting the passenger side of the victim’s vehicle, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.
Responding troopers found a box of empty salsa jars in Drew’s vehicle, officials said.
Drew is being held in the Polk County Jail on a bond of $5,500. He’s charged with throwing a deadly missile at an occupied vehicle and criminal mischief/property damage.
