Police responded to the home around 6:30 p.m. Thursday when two brothers inside the home got into an argument, and one threatened to kill the other.

Lakeland Police and SWAT teams were attempting to get the suspect out of the house, on New Jersey Road in Lakeland, since Thursday night. Sgt. Gary Gross with Lakeland Police says the man inside boarded up the windows.

Gross says multiple rounds of tear gas were fired into the residence overnight.

Gross says the suspect lives with his brother in the home and has a history of criminal behavior and mental illness.
