Woman killed in shooting outside North Tampa bar

TAMPA, FL (WFLA) — Tampa police are investigating an overnight shooting that left one woman dead outside of a North Tampa bar.

Detectives say 43-year-old Alica Lee Fussell was shot to death around 10:16 p.m. Tuesday night outside City Liquors bar, located at 9403 Nebraska Ave N., just north of Busch Blvd. Police said when they arrived, they discovered the woman’s body outside on the ground near a vehicle.

Witnesses said Fussell was approached by the gunman outside the bar and shot. It’s unclear if she was coming or going.

Investigators said the shooting does not appear to be random and the gunman remains on the loose.

The suspect has been described as a black male, approximately 6 to 6″2 tall, with a stocky build, short black hair, last seen wearing a grey Polo-style shirt and blue jeans.

State attorney Mark Ober was also called to the scene. Tampa Police detectives continue to investigate.
