(WBBH) – A Florida paramedic was arrested on grand theft charges Tuesday after he stole hundreds of dollars worth of prescription medication, according to the Lee County Sheriff’s Office.
WBBH reported, local authorities were tipped off by his wife, who told them she believed he did it to poison her.
Scott Standley works for the county’s Emergency Medical Services. On Monday, Standley’s wife Violeta called LCSO, fearing she was in danger, according to WBBH.
She said after separating from her husband in June, she found bottles of prescription medications in a tool box– which he explained were expired and for an experiment. Later, she said, she got in touch with a woman her husband claimed as his girlfriend. According to the police report, that woman warned her that the paramedic may be trying to harm her. She also claimed she was actually being stalked by Standley.
“Scott Standley is a paramedic on administrative leave with pay, which is standard procedure. Lee County has policies and procedures regarding Emergency Medical Services employees’ access to prescription medications.”
