Bahamas issues U.S. travel warning

NASSAU, Bahamas (WESH) — The government of The Bahamas has issued a travel warning for its citizens visiting the United States.

A statement from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs warns visitors to “exercise appropriate caution,” amid tensions in some U.S. cities over the shootings of young black males by police officers.

“We wish to advise all Bahamians travelling to the U.S. but especially to the affected cities to exercise appropriate caution generally,” it said. “In particular young males are asked to exercise extreme caution in affected cities in their interactions with the police. Do not be confrontational and cooperate.”

The ministry also advises people not to get involved in demonstrations and to avoid crowds.
