2 tree trimmers shocked by power lines in Tampa

TAMPA, Fla. (WFLA) — Two people who were trimming trees were shocked by power lines in Tampa on Tuesday afternoon. R-ELECT-1

A Tampa Fire Rescue spokesperson said it happened just before 2 p.m. at 4815 W. Estrella St.

The victims work for a landscaping service and were cutting palm fronds in front of a house when a ladder fell onto the power lines. Police are not sure if both victims were on the ladder or if one victim was on the ladder and the other was holding it.

No one witnessed the incident. A neighbor said he saw a flash of light and two males on the ground. Neighbors then ran over to the injured men and gave them CPR.

The incident may have been weather related.

Emergency crews transported two patients to Tampa General Hospital. Both patients are in critical condition.

Details about their identities have not been released.
