TAMPA, Fla. (WFLA) — With less than two weeks to the Democratic Convention, there’s a battle brewing in Hillsborough County between the Hillsborough Democratic Party and one of its members.

Chris Cano, who serves as the elected precinct committeeman for the Hillsborough Young Democrats and who is also the Vice President of the Democratic Hispanic Caucus, is in hot water over a Facebook post in which he bashed Hillary Clinton.

“I posted, ‘If she’s inspired by a professional co** su**** then perhaps we now know what Wall Street is in our pocket. Hillary admires Kim Kardashian’,” said Cano, about his Facebook post.

In a letter from the Hillsborough Democratic Party chairman, Cano was told he had until Monday to take the post down or the party would initiate the “action of removal”.

“I can see how the colorful language might bother some people. We see stuff like this as pandering in our generation,” said Cano.

Party Chair Ione Townsend declined to speak to 8 on Your Side on camera, saying it is an internal matter. But, Townsend did say that Cano is an elected party official, so his “conduct needs to be in a way that respects and preserves the organization.”

“When I choose to use words, I choose to use words for a reason. I don’t just blatantly cuss for no reason. I’m trying to drive a point home,” said Cano, who also said that despite the letter’s threat, he isn’t taking the post down.

“Then I’m going to continue to speak up until they boot me out. They’re going to have to go through hell or high water,” said Cano.
