UPDATE: Manasseh Walker has been taken into custody. He was found Thursday afternoon in the 300 block of East Grace Street in Punta Gorda.
Walker is being held in the Charlotte County Jail.
PREVIOUS STORY: SARASOTA COUNTY, FL (WFLA) – Sarasota deputies need your help locating the man accused of intentionally setting a rabbit on fire.
Manasseh Walker, 22, of Englewood, is charged with Aggravated Animal Cruelty for the intentional burning of a domestic rabbit. Sarasota County Sheriff’s deputies said that the Animal Services officers were called to a home on Loranza Avenue on June 12 when a neighbor spotted an injured rabbit.
The animal was taken to a rehabilitation clinic and the doctors said it may have been lit on fire intentionally.
Sarasota deputies posted the photo of the rabbit on their Facebook page and the owner came forward and told them what happened. According to witnesses, Manasseh Walker said he had been bitten by ‘Thumper’ and a few moments later the man was seen chasing the rabbit while it was on fire.
The rabbit is expected to survive.
Sarasota detectives continue to investigate the case but they haven’t found Walker yet. They think he may be in Punta Gorda/Charlotte County area. If you have ay information about the case please contact SCSO.
