RUSH CITY, MN (WFLA) – An Army veteran rescued a young bald eagle entangled in a rope, hanging from a tree.
KARE reported that Jason Galvin, an Army veteran with two tours to Afghanistan and a sharp shooter, saw the bird hanging from the tree on his run for the bait at the nearby docks. It turned out the bird has been hanging there for a while and nobody could help – it was just too high.
That’s where Jason’s shooting skills came into play and after several shots at the branch to which the rope was tied, it fell down on the soft underbrush.
The eagle was alive and alert when it was taken to the local conservation center.
Jason and his wife started calling the bird it ‘Freedom.’
“4th of July, you know, that’s our bird, I can’t let it sit there,” Jason told KARE.
