TAMPA, Fla. (WFLA) — Tampa police plan to enhance security at LGBT nightclubs in the wake of Sunday morning’s massacre at a gay nightclub in Orlando.

Tampa Police Chief Eric Ward said he and his staff have been monitoring the situation closely and say there is no evidence of any threat in Tampa. The chief said that given that the focus of the attack was a club that catered to the LGBT community, TPD will enhance coverage of similar clubs in Tampa.

“As always, we remain vigilant and we are doing all we can to keep our City safe,” said Chief Ward. “Our message is that one that we have repeated many times: If you see something, say something, and we will do something.”

Chief Ward and members of his staff have gone to Orlando to assist in any way they can.
