TAMPA, Fla. (WFLA) – Tampa mayor Bob Buckhorn stopped by News Channel 8 exclusively Sunday evening to talk about the preparations the city is taking ahead of Tropical Storm Colin.
Buckhorn said the city has already pre-staged barricades in areas that historically flood.
“They’re ready to go right now. So when the calls goes out… the officers will be able to block those streets and stop people from moving through the neighborhoods,” Mayor Buckhorn explained to News Channel 8.
The mayor said more than 10-thousand sandbags have already been distributed to homeowners.
“We’ve lived through this before. We all remember last August,” Buckhorn said.
The mayor told News Channel 8 that city officials are ready to go and urged folks to take caution during the storm.
