BROOKSVILLE, Fla. (WFLA) – A Brooksville man is accused of leaving his 10-year-old son home alone with loaded weapons while he went to peep into the bedroom window of a teenage girl.

Hernando County Sheriff’s Office deputies were patrolling in the Trillium subdivision in Brooksville at 10:15 p.m. on May 31. The deputies say they saw Chad Michael Rodrigues, 42, peering into a bedroom window at a residence located on Red Bloom Place. The room was occupied by an 18-year-old female.

When confronted by deputies, Rodrigues allegedly said he was searching for his lost dog, which has been missing for six weeks.

After further questioning, deputies say Rodrigues admitted he lied about looking for his dog and was actually there to look into the teen’s window.

Following his arrest, deputies discovered Rodrigues had left his 10-year-old son home alone with access to a loaded 12-gauge shotgun and a loaded 9mm pistol.

The child told deputies that it’s not uncommon for him to wake up in the middle of the night and find nobody home. The child said his father usually tells him he went for a walk.

Rodrigues told detectives he has looked into the teen’s window on five separate occasions for sexual gratification.

He also admitted, on one occasion, to masturbating as he looked into the teen’s bedroom window.

Rodrigues was charged with five counts of Voyeurism and one count of Child Neglect.

His bond was set at $10,000.
