Memorial Day Sales: how to snag the best deals

The Memorial Day holiday boasts some of the deepest discounts you’ll see all year, if you know what to look for. We’re talking about things like mattresses, spring clothes, and home goods. But there are also special deals specifically for veterans this weekend. We got expert advice on how you can save.

“If I had to pick one category for Memorial Day Sales, I would have to say clothing. That’s definitely the most discounts that we see this weekend. It can even get up to 90% off,” said Benjamin Glaser with the price trackers at DealNews.

Home goods like vacuums, appliances and kitchen supplies are another key category on steep discount this weekend, in some cases, up to 70% off.

The Coupon Project stresses, you shouldn’t stop at the sales. It has a list of some Memorial Day coupons that can make your purchases even cheaper.

DealNews also says this is hands down the best weekend of the year to snag a deal on a mattress, which you can expect to find half off.

As for Veterans, many companies are offering specific deals for anyone who can show a military ID.

“We’re seeing a lot of companies offering membership to their rewards program which might normally be a paid subscription. And that includes Newegg, that’s a tech shopping site. Also Microsoft is offering heavily discounted use of Microsoft office suite for military members,” said Glaser.
