ORLANDO, Fla. (WFLA) – US Congressman Alan Grayson describes a website his opponent’s tream created as “juvenile” and “ridiculous.” The website is angryalangrayson.com, and it was put together by the Congressman Patrick Murphy, who is running against Grayson to be the Democratic nominee for Florida’s soon-to-be open Senate seat.

The two Democrats are duking it out ahead of the August primary.

“I think it’s juvenile. I think it’s ridiculous. Maybe he should go get a juice box and take a nap. That’s the kind of nonsense we’ve been seeing all through this campaign because Patrick is nowhere on the issues,” Grayson said.

Grayson called it a “smear campaign,” even when asked about an ethics investigation into a hedge fund he manages.

Grayson told News Channel 8 the focus should be on the issues. He said he passed five amendments last week and wants to focus on that. However, his campaign has also been getting in on the mudslinging. Last week, his campaign sent an email calling for an investigation into Murphy’s involvement with a Super PAC.

“I’ll tell you why it’s because I’m the only member of congress, unlike Patrick Murphy, unlike the 433 members of the House of Representatives, who finances his campaign through small contributions. What Patrick Murphy has done is basically sign the back of PAC checks for a living for the past 3 years. He takes special interest money like nobody else,” Grayson said.

“This is yet another desperate attempt by Alan Grayson to distract from the fact that he’s funding his own campaign with the same hedge fund money that has him under an ongoing ethics investigation. Alan Grayson managed an offshore Cayman Islands hedge fund in violation of ethics rules and federal law and it’s time for him to come clean to Florida voters,” Murphy’s campaign spokeswoman Galia Slayen said.
