Five children, man hurt in Polk County school bus accident

POLK COUNTY, Fla. (WFLA) – Two Polk County school buses were involved in separate accidents Friday afternoon.

Around 4:42 p.m. crews were called to 1112 Bates Road in Haines City after a bus and a minivan collided. Children were on the bus.

According to Haines City Police, the school bus was stopped in the westbound lane to allow the passengers to get off. Robert Robinson, 69, was in the same lane in his 2000 Dudge Durango. He slammed into the rear of the bus.

Robinson was taken to a hospital in critical condition. Five children suffered minor injuries and were taken by ground to the hospital.

There were 50 children on the bus. Other than those five minor injuries, nobody else was hurt.
