Gator caught stealing watermelon in south Florida

HENDRY COUNTY, FL (WFLA/NBC) — What a gator wants, a gator gets. No questions asked.

Especially if it has a sweet tooth.

A law enforcement officer with the Florida Agricultural Crimes Intelligence Unit snapped a picture of a gator with it’s giant jaws locked firmly around a watermelon in Hendry County in south Florida last week.

The photo was posted to the Florida Agricultural Crimes Intelligence Unit Facebook page Friday saying the gator was “caught stealing watermelon out of watermelon field.”

No one was about to stop the crook as it crawled into a canal, escaping with the fruit of its labor.

The photo has been shared over 11,300 times as of Wednesday morning.
